Shaka-Luli

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 29, 2026

Shaka-Luli is a math and reading game for children, made by Eugert Jani, an independent developer (called “we” and “us” below). We built it so that nothing about your child ever leaves your iPhone. This policy explains what the app keeps on the device and what it never does.

The short version

What the app keeps on your iPhone

So that your family can pick up the story where you left off, the app saves a small amount of game information in its own private storage on the device:

This information stays in the app’s storage on the device. The app never transmits it, and we have no way to see it.

What the app does not do

Shaka-Luli makes no network connections. It does not ask for or use the camera, microphone, photos, contacts or location. It does not use the advertising identifier or track anyone across apps and websites, and it has no chat, social features, profiles or sign-in. It contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs. The app is built with open-source tools (Expo and React Native), and its fonts, pictures, music and voices are bundled inside it, so none of these parts send data anywhere.

Read-aloud voice

When the game reads a puzzle aloud, it uses the text-to-speech voice built into iOS, which runs on the device. Only the game’s own words are spoken. Nothing is recorded, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Children’s privacy

Shaka-Luli is directed to children. We respect the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code by not collecting personal information at all. Because we never receive any information about a child, there is nothing for us to use, disclose or retain, and nothing for a parent to consent to. If we ever wanted to change that, we would update this policy first and obtain verifiable parental consent wherever the law requires it.

Information handled by Apple

Apple distributes the app through the App Store, and your Apple Account, downloads and device settings are covered by Apple’s own privacy policy. If the device owner has turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings (under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us crash reports and basic usage statistics that Apple has already stripped of personal information. We use them only to fix problems.

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, the backup can include the game’s saved progress together with your other app data. That backup is controlled by you and Apple, and we cannot access it.

Sharing and selling

We do not share, sell, rent or trade information about you or your child, because the app never gives us any.

Keeping and deleting information

Saved progress stays on the device until you remove it. To delete one adventure, open the app, tap Play, swipe left on the adventure under Choose your adventure, tap Delete, then tap Delete again to confirm. That removes the adventure’s progress and hero names. To remove everything the app has saved, including the Grown-ups PIN and daily limit, the sound setting and the play-time record, delete Shaka-Luli from the iPhone.

We hold no copy of anything on our side, so there is nothing for us to delete. You are still welcome to write to us with any question about your information.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app handles information differently, we will update this page and its effective date before that version is released.
